Tuberculosis Testing
Tuberculosis, a serious respiratory infection, can be challenging to detect without proper testing. Many carriers show no symptoms but can still transmit the infection to others.
Swift Clinics is dedicated to protecting your health and well-being. Our TB testing services provide a fast, reliable way to check for tuberculosis infection, an essential step for individuals working in healthcare, education, or other settings where TB screening is required.
Our TB Testing Process
At Swift Clinics, we offer comprehensive Tuberculosis (TB) testing services, including both one-step and two-step Tuberculin Skin Tests (TST), to meet your specific health requirements.
One-Step TB Testing
Two-Step TB Testing
The two-step TST is designed to establish an accurate baseline for individuals who will undergo periodic TB screening, such as healthcare workers or those entering long-term care facilities. This process helps identify the “booster phenomenon,” where an initial test may be negative, but a subsequent test reveals a positive reaction due to a boosted immune response. The procedure is as follows:
- First Test: Administer the initial TST and assess the reaction after 48 to 72 hours.
- Second Test: If the first test is negative, a second TST is administered 1 to 4 weeks later, with the reaction evaluated again after 48 to 72 hours.
This method ensures that any future positive tests are correctly identified as new infections, not false positives.
For all TB testing for any service, the service is performed by a Nurse and therefore it is considered an uninsured service. The fee is $80 each test.
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that most often affects the lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body. TB is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis can be spread from person to person through the air. General symptoms of TB include weakness, weight loss, fever and night sweats. Symptoms of the lungs also include coughing, chest pain and coughing up blood.
TB disease is curable. It is treated by standard 6 month course of 4 antibiotics. Common drugs include Rifampicin, Isoniazid, Ethambutol and Pyrazinamide.
If the test is positive, Our nursing staff will refer you to a Physician for assessment.
